Nový Hrádek

The place Hrádek was established at the end of the 13th century in the vicinity of the Frymburk Castle. The first written mention of the village comes from July 13, 1362, when Čeněk from Leipa on Frymburk appointed a pastor. During the Hussite Wars , the lord of the castle, Johann Městecký von Opočno, fought on the side of Emperor Sigismund , which is why Frymburk was conquered by the orphans in 1425 and burned down a little later. From 1537 the existence of an ironworks and a hammer mill on the Olešenka is documented. During the Thirty Years War, Frymburk Castle was burned down by the Swedes in 1638. 1651 belonged to the district of the judge of Hrádek 351 subjects.

In 1735 the inhabitants suffered from Russian troops who fought against Stanislaus I. Leszczyński in the war of the Polish succession . On April 10, 1736, Emperor Karl VI. In return for the damage suffered, the town of Hrádek was given the privilege of holding three annual markets and one weekly market . Since 1790 the place was called Nový Hrádek and the use of a town seal can be proven; it is believed that the town was also raised in 1736. In 1836 Nový Hrádek consisted of 212 houses and had 1238 inhabitants. In 1843 a city fire destroyed 45 buildings. After the replacement of patrimonial Nový Hrádek became an independent municipality, which from 1850 belonged to the district of Neustadt an der Mettau .

At the census of 1869, Nový Hrádek had 1,596 people, which was the highest population ever.

After the end of the Second World War, Nový Hrádek came to the newly formed Okres Dobruška from 1945 to 1946 and was then reclassified to Okres Nové Město nad Metují. In 1949 the place came again to Okres Dobruška and since 1960 it belongs to Okres Náchod . Around 2000, a wind power plant was built on Šibeník with four wind turbines 40 m high.
