Červená Hora (German Rothenburg ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers southwest of Červený Kostelec on the Aupa River and belongs to the Okres Náchod .
geography
Červená Hora is located on the left side of the Aupa , which forms the Babiččino údolí ( Grandmother's Valley ) here, on a plateau. To the west of the village lie the remains of the Červená Hora castle on a rock spur above a bend in the Aupa river .
Neighboring towns are Boušín and Mstětín in the north, Olešnice u Červeného Kostelce in the northeast, Všeliby in the southeast, Žernov and Rýzmburk in the south, Světlá in the southwest and Litoboř and Slatina nad Úpou in the west.
history
In the second half of the 13th century, the Rothenburg was built above the valley of the Aupa , which formed the middle link of the three castle chain of Riesenburg and Wiesenburg . Between 1291 and 1295 the castle belonged to the judge Sezema of Červená Hora. The settlement that arose on the plateau east of the castle formed the economic basis of the castle rule.
In 1406 Hynko acquired from Dubá Červená Hora. The Catholic and follower of Emperor Sigismund fought against the rebels in the Hussite Wars . Hynko von Dubá raised Červená Hora to the market. On June 8th 1427 the Hussites took the Rothenburg and destroyed it. Since then it has remained in ruins.
Červená Hora became part of the Riesenburg rule, which Siegmund Smiřický von Smiřice acquired in 1601 for his ward, the eleven-year-old Albrecht Václav Smiřický, and joined the Nachod rule . During the reign of Peter von Biron , Červená Hora received a new school.
After the end of patrimonial Červená Hora became an independent municipality in 1848. In 1961 it was incorporated into Žernov , which lasted until 1990.
