Dolany

The first written mention of Dolany comes from 1549. The district of Krabčice, which can be traced back to 1385, is much older.

The village Dolany was part of the soft landscape of the five kilometers southwest of Jaroměř.

Battle of Pig Skull

During the German War , on June 29, 1866 , a battle broke out near Schweinschädel . The Austrian troops under Tassilo Festetics , who camped in Dolany, tried to advance north and northeast to Gradlitz and Trebeschau . After the occupation of Schweinschädel and Miskoles , the Prussians under Karl von Steinmetz , who had taken Skalitz on June 28, started moving eastwards. At the same time, from the northeast, Rothkosteletz was approaching Prince Albrecht's cavalry . Under the leadership of the Crown Prince , von Trautenau and Königinhof advanced further troops on Gradlitz, while some troops advanced from Skalitz via ford and Trebeschau to pig skulls. Despite strong resistance, the Austrians were inferior to the Prussians in the fighting that broke out from 4 p.m. and holed up in the Schweinschädler Herrenhof. When no more supplies came from Josefstadt , the Austrians finally withdrew there when the opposing side began to encircle the troops.

In the fighting there were 1,750 dead on the Austrian side, the number of Prussian dead was 394.

In the following year, the Austrian Infantry Regiment No. 37, which had borne the brunt of the fighting with 1,143 dead, had a large memorial erected on the village square of Schweinschädel.
