Křinice (German: Weckersdorf ; also: Skrinice ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers southwest of Broumov and belongs to the Okres Náchod .

geography

Křinice was created as a forest hoof village. It is five kilometers long and lies with its western part, the "Oberdorf", at the foot of the Falkengebirge ( Sterngebirge ). It extends from west to south-east to the "Niederdorf", where the Krimsbach ( Křinicky potok ) flows into the stones . The group of ponds "Křinické rybničky" to the south of the village is designated as a nature reserve.

Neighboring towns are Broumov in the northeast, Velká Ves and Otovice in the east, Martínkovice and Božanov in the southeast and America and Hony in the west.

history

Weckersdorf belonged to the Politzer area, which the Bohemian King Ottokar I Přemysl had assigned to the Břevnov monastery for reclamation. It was founded under the Braunau abbot Martin (1253–1278) and settled with German colonists. It was part of the parish of Braunau and was first mentioned in writing in 1395 as Wickersdorf . The name Weckersdorf is documented for 1411. The existence of a school is proven for 1631. The settlement of craftsmen - with the exception of the mill and a bar - was initially forbidden. That is why Weckersdorf was the largest farming village in the Braunauer Stiftsland in 1677. For this year there are 51 farmer and 43 cottage jobs. In 1800 a new school building was built, which in turn was replaced by a new building in 1875. A wooden pipeline has been used to transport water from the Weckersdorf headwaters to the Braunau monastery since 1706 and to the town of Braunau since 1880. Great damage was caused by fire in 1815. In another fire in 1885, 24 houses were destroyed.

In 1850 Weckersdorf formed a community in the judicial district of Braunau or in the later district of Braunau . In addition to agriculture, a brick kiln and the extraction of sandstone and building sand were important. In the second half of the 19th century, numerous residents emigrated to Chile.

After the Munich Agreement in 1938, Weckersdorf, which was mainly populated by Germans, was added to the German Empire and belonged to the Braunau district until 1945 . After the Second World War , Křinice belonged to the Okres Broumov. In 1945 and 1946 the German residents were expelled. As a result, the population fell by more than half, and numerous houses were left to decay. After the dissolution of the Broumov Okres, Křinice came to the Okres Náchod in 1961.
