Nahořany (German Nahorschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers west of Nové Město nad Metují (New Town on the Mettau) and belongs to the Okres Náchod .
geography
Nahořany is located in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains, on the right side of the Metuje ( Mettau ) between this river and the Rozkoš reservoir (Vodní nádrž Rozkoš) . Beyond the Mettau, the hills Horka (324 m) and Hlohovský Kopec (309 m) rise . To the northeast is the Nové Město nad Metují airfield.
Neighboring towns are Lhota and Doubravice (Daubrawitz) in the north, Šonov u Nového Města nad Metují and Vrchoviny (Verkhovin) in the northeast, Krčín and Luštinec in the east, Spy (Spie) in the southeast, Černčice , Osíček, Homole and Dolsko in the south, Roztoky in the south Southwest, Městec and Nouzín in the west and Spyta in the northwest.
history
Nahořany was first mentioned in a document in 1415. It belonged to the Krčín castle lordship, with which it came in 1501 to the Nové Město nad Metují lordship .
After the abolition of patrimonial Nahořany formed a municipality in the Nové Město nad Metují district from 1850. Since the beginning of the 20th century, there has been a continuous decline in population. Within a hundred years the population of the municipality fell by 60 percent. In 1950 the village was reclassified to Okres Dobruška and has belonged to Okres Náchod since its dissolution in 1960. At the beginning of 1961, the places Dolsko and Lhota were incorporated into Doubravice. At the same time, Městec, which had been part of Velká Jesenice since 1950 , came to Nahořany. In 2003 the community had 478 inhabitants. 315 of them lived in Nahořany, 76 in Lhota, 32 in Městec, 28 in Dolsko and 27 in Doubravice.
