Emil Hoppe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Emil Hoppe (born April 2, 1876 in Vienna ; † August 14, 1957 Vienna) was an Austrian architect .

Live and act

Hoppe studied from 1898 to 1901 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Otto Wagner . At that time he was already working as a freelance architect. In 1909 he left Otto Wagner's office, in which he had previously worked for several years, and founded his own office with two other master students of Wagner, Marcel Kammerer and Otto Schönthal . Their collaboration was very successful and they not only realized numerous buildings, but also worked in the field of interior architecture and furniture design. Marcel Kammerer left after the First World War and Emil Hoppe continued to run the office with Otto Schönthal. After the Second World War , Hoppe worked as a freelance architect. Hoppe was considered an excellent draftsman and contributed to the design of the magazine “Der Architekt”, in which many of his designs were also published .
