Residential building Am Hof 11

The residential building Am Hof 11 , also known as Ledererhof and Zur golden Kugel , is located in Vienna's 1st district, Inner City, between Am Hof square , Drahtgasse , Ledererhof and Färbergasse . The building in the historicist style with neo-baroque forms was built in 1882/83 on the site of three old houses. A gilded Ottoman cannonball taken from the previous building is attached to the left of the portal. After a cannonball was struck in the previous house in the course of the second Turkish siege in 1683, it was walled into the house wall and later gilded, which gave the house the name "To the golden ball".

Building history

The house was built from 1882 to 1883 by the architect and building officer Ludwig Tischler for Bernhard Hoffmann. In 1933 the facade was redesigned by Otto Schönthal and Emil Hoppe . In the course of the Second World War, several bombs hit and badly damaged the house. In 1948 the house was restored by the architect Emil Hoppe with a simplified facade. At the beginning of the 1990s, a renovation took place and the original appearance was largely restored. Around 2010, the roof was converted based on the historical proportions that were lost in the chaos of war.
