Ludwig Carpenter
Ludwig Tischler (born August 6, 1840 in Trieste , † May 25, 1906 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect .
Life
Ludwig Tischler studied at the Vienna Polytechnic from 1857 to 1861 and then worked in Romano & Schwendenwein's studio until 1869 . From 1870 to 1875 he was the chief architect of the Vienna construction company . In 1875 he became self-employed as an architect, mainly working with the Allgemeine Österreichische Baugesellschaft , of which he was a member of the board of directors from 1887.
Ludwig Tischler found his final resting place in the Hietzinger Friedhof in Vienna.
meaning
Ludwig Tischler was one of the most productive and busiest architects of the late 19th century in Vienna. In this city alone he erected around 250 buildings. Its numerous representative rental palaces still shape the cityscape in the 1st district to this day. In terms of style, Tischler belonged to historicism . At the beginning, still in the Ringstrasse era, he was oriented towards the Italian Renaissance, later he turned to the Baroque and was even called the last Viennese Baroque architect. He remained true to this style, combined with popular dome structures, until his death and refused to accept any newer influences. The publication of the three-volume work Wiener Neubauten , which is an important source for the buildings of the Vienna Ringstrasse era, is also important.
