history
The area was part of the Újezd polický ( Politzer Sprengel ) , which has been documented since 1201 . Bezděkov was one of the villages that were founded in 1241 by the Břevnov monastery during the settlement of the border forest. The first written mention of the village comes from 1358.
The village and the Bezděkov farm belonged to the Police monastery. After the Hussite Wars , the farm was separated and passed to the country gentleman Petr. In 1558 the monastery gave the place Bezděkov to his servant Stanislav Sladovský of Sladov. The monastery acquired the place back from his descendants in 1624. The berní rula shows five farmers, three sitters and 13 gardeners for the village.
In 1724 the abbot Othmar Daniel Zinke had a new church built in Bezděkov. After the abolition of patrimonial Bezděkov became an independent municipality in 1848, to which the district Radešov still belonged. Between 1873 and 1875 the railway from Chotzen to Halbstadt was built , with several tunnels in the Metuje valley and a train station below Bezděkov. Bezděkov has had a coat of arms since 2000.
