Nízká Srbská is located on the Židovka , which rises in the Heuscheuergebirge . Neighboring towns are Bělý ( Bieley ) in the northeast, Machov ( Machau ) in the east, Sedmakovice ( Sedmakowitz ) in the southeast, Vysoká Srbská ( Hochsichel ) in the south and Bezděkov ( Bösig ) in the northwest. To the southeast lie the nature reserves Kubinův lesiček, Bučiny nad Brlenkou and Pod prameny Brlenky.

history

The Břevnov abbot Martin commissioned his loyal vassal Utěch with the construction of a village on the Srbský potok (German Sichler Bach ) . As a fee were him inheritance rights Scholzerei ( dědična rychta or šolcovna ) and a mill, and a sixth of Politzer Kloster income promised. "Nízká Srbská" was founded under German law and was first mentioned in a document on August 9, 1254, when the boundaries between the Nachod reign and the Břevnov branch monastery Politz were established in a Latin document . Contract partners were the Náchod castle and landlord Hron von Náchod and Abbot Martin. The border ran from Machau along the Židovka brook , which was then known as Srbský potok or in its upper part as Stekelnice . The area on the right bank came to the Politz Monastery , which was entrusted with the cultivation and colonization and formed the Politz rule with its villages and meadows. Nízká Srbská belonged to the old Bohemian Hradec Kralove district . The Scholzen mill and another, which probably belonged to the outdoor farm , are documented for the year 1406 . The district of "Malá Srbská" ( small sickle ) lying on the left of the Srbský potok became extinct around the middle of the 16th century. The uninhabited homesteads were bought by the Hochsichler ( Velká Srbská ), the fields and corridors by the Niedersichler. Since the little sickle to the left of the brook actually belonged to the Nachod rule, disputes arose over it. They were only settled in 1718 under Abbot Othmar Daniel Zinke . The disputed area was awarded to the Politz rule. In 1758, during the Seven Years' War , the Prussian army camped in the fields between Niedersichel and Bezděkov ( Bösig ) .

As part of the Josephine reforms , the Politz Monastery was abolished in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II and the Politz rule with the associated localities was secularized. Then there was an economic boom, which led to an increase in the population and thus also in the houses.

After the replacement of patrimonial Nízká Srbská became an independent municipality in 1848, which from 1850 belonged to the Braunau district and the Politz judicial district . In 1872, 26 residents of Nízká Srbská died from a leaf epidemic . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1881 and a school was built in 1896. In 1910, Niedersicher consisted of 100 houses in which 483 people lived. The textile factory established by Hermann Straetz in 1908 achieved economic importance. After his death in 1917, it was successfully continued by his son-in-law Emil Löwenbach. In 1937 112 looms were in operation; In 1939 700,000 meters of fabric were produced. During the time of the Protectorate , the factory was confiscated, production stopped and all workers were sacked.

In 1951 Nízká Srbská was incorporated into the municipality of Machov as a district . In 1958 the agricultural cooperative Jednotné zemědělské družstvo was founded. In 1991 it had 331 inhabitants, ten years later there were 339.
