history

Vestec was first mentioned in a document in 1415 together with Heřmanice. At that time the owner of the fortress Vestec was Hynek von Dubá . After the Hussite Wars , the Straka von Nedabylice family acquired the property. In 1450 Jan Straka took part in a joint campaign against the robber baron Jan Kolda von Žampach . Another owner was Peter Straka, who was captain of the Königingrätzer Kreis until his death in 1617. His eldest son Jindřich took over his inheritance. Jindřich Straka also exercised the reign of Adam Erdmann Trčka from Lípa . After his murder on the night of Eger's murder in 1634, not only Trčka's goods, but also those of Jindřich Straka were confiscated. The imperial colonel Štěpán Verfen de S. Muritio received Straka's goods for 30,000 guilders as thanks for his loyal service. Verfen sold Hermanitz and Wesetz in 1637 for 21,500 guilders to Octavio Piccolomini ; this connected it to his reign Nachod .

In 1814 a one-class village school started teaching in Vestec. In 1876 a new school building was built, in which 118 children were taught in 1882.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vestec formed with the districts Hostyň (Hostinka) and Větrník from 1850 a municipality in the Nové Město nad Metují district. At the end of the 19th century, Vestec came to the Náchod district. At the beginning of 1961, Vestec was incorporated into Lhota pod Hořičkami . On July 1, 1985 Vestec became a district of Hořičky . Since September 1, 1990 the municipality Vestec exists again, the localities Hostinka and Větrník initially decided to move to Lhota pod Hořičkami.
