Bukovice ( German  Bukawitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located one kilometer north of Police nad Metují and belongs to the Okres Náchod .

geography

Bukovice is located southeast of the Ostaš mountain at the confluence of the Pěkovský potok and Hlavňovský potok to the Dunajka river . State road 303 between Náchod and Broumov runs through the village . To the south, Bukovice has merged with the town of Police nad Metují.

Neighboring towns are Pěkov in the north, Hlavňov in the east, Suchý Důl in the southeast, Police nad Metují in the south, Žďár nad Metují in the southwest, Česká Metuje in the west and Ostaš in the northwest.

history

On the site of the village, a preliminary work of the Police nad Metují Benedictine monastery was built around 1220 . After 1405 it was dissolved and the corridors were settled. The resulting village of Bukovice was subject to the Police rulership. Because of the high tax burden, there was a peasant uprising in 1680.

After the end of patrimonial rule , the villages of Bukovice and Velká Ledhuje formed a municipality from 1848 onwards. In 1877 the two places separated and Bukovice became independent.

Between 1954 and 1960 the village was incorporated into Police nad Metují, after which it was combined with Hlavňov to form one municipality, which was given the name "Hvězda". In 1970, 389 people lived in 96 houses in the village. In 1990 Bukovice got its independence again.

The former textile factory, which had previously belonged to the VEBA company, went back to the previous owners, the Goldmann family, in 1991. On July 7th and 8th, 1997 the community suffered severe damage from a flood.
