Kaspar Glatz (also Casparus Glatius, Glacius ; * in Rieden am Forggensee ; † September 15, 1551 at the Siedelhof near Naschhausen ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Nothing is known from Glatz's early days. On August 11, 1523 he came to the University of Wittenberg , where he received his doctorate and doctorate in theology in 1524. It seems that he also gave lectures and on August 27, 1524, took over the parish in Orlamünde , which was connected to the archdeacon of the Wittenberg Castle Church , as the successor to Andreas Bodenstein .

Martin Luther , who was keen to find a husband for the escaped nun Katharina von Bora , suggested her bald man. Bora refused and subsequently became Luther's wife. Glatz did not have an easy job in Orlamünde, as Bodenstein had largely aroused people there. Thereupon he was released from his post there in 1536, but received the office again in 1539. After the Augsburg Interim had been drawn up, Glatz appeared at the side of Nikolaus von Amsdorf and Justus Menius as a representative of the Lutheran-minded people and expressed his concerns about this.
