Velká Jesenice (German Groß Jessenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers southwest of Česká Skalice and belongs to the Okres Náchod .
geography
Velká Jesenice is part of the recreational area of the reservoir Rozkoš and is not far from its southwestern shore. Neighboring towns are Řikov in the north, Česká Skalice and Spyta in the north-east, Městec and Nahořany in the south-east and Volovka in the south-west.
history
Velká Jesenice was first mentioned in writing in 1350. At that time it was owned by the Bochovský von Bochov, who sold it in 1495 to the Bohemian governor Nikolaus Trčka von Lípa , who already owned the neighboring Opočno estate . 1524–1654 Velká Jesenice was recorded in the Bohemian land table . Other owners included the Straka from Nedabylice and the Panský from Střezetice. Later Velká Jesenice was connected to the Opočno manor until 1848. After the abolition of patrimonial Velká Jesenice became an independent municipality in 1848.
