Heřmánkovice (German Hermsdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers north of Broumov on the border with Poland and belongs to the Okres Náchod .
geography
The Waldhufendorf located at the foot of the Heidelberg Mountains stretches for five kilometers along the Heřmánkovický creek , a left tributary of the stones from north to south, where it forms a closed development with Olivětín. To the northeast rise the mountains Ruprechtický Špičák ( Spitzberg , 880 m) and the Široký vrch (839 m), to the north are the Jelení vrch (751 m) and Jedlový vrch (733 m). On the eastern edge of the village is the Supí vrch ( Geiersberg , 541 m) and opposite it in the west of the Holý vrch ( Kahlberg , 546 m). At Janovičky the tourist border crossing Janovičky / Głuszyca Górna leads to Poland. On the southern outskirts of the village, the Meziměstí - Broumov railway runs through the Stones Valley, where the Broumov-Olivětín railway station is located.
Neighboring towns are Granna and Łomnica in the north, Głuszyca Górna in the northeast, Janovičky in the east, Benešov in the southeast, Olivětín and Hejtmánkovice in the south, Hynčice and Ruprechtice in the west and Radosno in the northwest.
history
In the course of the reclamation of the area by the Břevnov monastery , the place was probably laid out by German colonists like the surrounding places around 1255. The village was not mentioned in the founding deed of Broumov Monastery from 1286. Herrmannvilla was first mentioned in a document in 1353 as one of the villages of Broumov Monastery. A church has been documented since 1354, which is a branch of the parish of Schönau .
In 1724, Abbot Othmar Zinke consecrated the new Baroque Church of All Saints , built according to plans by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer . At the beginning of the 18th century the village of Straßenau was founded. After the abolition of patrimonial Hermsdorf formed with the districts Johannesberg / Janovice and Straßenau / Benešov from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Braunau or in the later district of Braunau . In 1862 the Church of All Saints was elevated to a parish church. The residents lived primarily from agriculture and forestry. There was a limestone quarry on the Geiersberg, and porphyry was also mined. The clay deposits found in Niederdorf were used by Schroll's steam brick, which was built between Hermsdorf and Ölberg ( Olivětín ). Johannesberg broke up in the 1870s and formed its own congregation. In 1885 there were 1,694 people living in the community, in 1913 there were 1,824. After the Munich Agreement , Hermsdorf, which was predominantly German-populated, was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Braunau district until 1945 . In 1945 and 1946 the German residents were expelled. In 1949 Janovičky was incorporated. After the dissolution of the Okres Broumov Heřmánkovice was assigned to the Okres Náchod in 1961 and at the same time the district Benešov was reassigned to Broumov . In 1981, Heřmánkovice was also incorporated into Broumov with Janovičky. Since September 1, 1990, the municipality Heřmánkovice exists again.
