history

The street village of Straßendörfel was created at the beginning of the 18th century by the Braunau monastery on Hermsdorf farmland along the trade route leading from Braunau over the Heidelgebirge to Schweidnitz and Breslau . Until the 19th century, the settlement was also referred to as concurrent houses . Street village was parish off to Schönau until 1784 , after which the village belonged to the Hermsdorf locality.

In 1833 the settlement of Straßendörfel or Concurrenthaus , located in the Königgrätzer Kreis and registered in Hermsdorf, consisted of 14 houses in which 80 people lived. Street villages were subordinate to the Hermsdorf courts. The village remained subject to the Braunau monastery until the middle of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Straßenau / Benešov formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Hermsdorf / Heřmánkovice in the judicial district of Braunau . Alternatively, the settlement was also called Schweidnitzer Strasse after the trade route leading through it . The scattered houses forming the north-eastern end of the settlement, later called the foxhouses , belonged to Rosenthal . In 1862 the location Hermsdorf was raised to a parish. In 1868, Straßenau was assigned to the Braunau district . In 1885, Schweidnitzer Strasse was expanded to become Chaussee. After the Munich Agreement , Straßenau was added to the German Reich in autumn 1938 and belonged to the Braunau district until 1945 . After the end of World War II, Benešov came back to Czechoslovakia and the German population was expelled. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Broumov was abolished, since then Benešov has belonged to the Okres Náchod. 1961 Benešov was separated from Heřmánkovice and incorporated into Broumov. In 1991 Benešov had 84 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 29 houses and had 123 inhabitants.
