The constituency of Kymi (most recently constituency 08) was one of 15 (1954 to 1958 16) Finnish constituencies for elections to the Finnish parliament from 1948 to 2011 . It consisted of the landscapes of Kymenlaakso and South Karelia . After most of the territory of the constituencies of East Viipuri and West Viipuri had been lost in the Winter War and finally after the Continuation War , the constituencies were renamed East and West Kymi for the 1945 election, and for the 1948 election they were combined to form the Kymi constituency. In the parliamentary elections, each constituency is entitled to a certain number of seats in parliament based on the number of inhabitants; the Kymi constituency was entitled to 32 seats in 1948 due to the pre-war population of the former constituencies, 15 seats in 1951 to 1979, 14 seats in 1983 to 1987, 13 in 1991 to 1999 Seats and 12 seats from 2003 to 2011. For the 2015 election, the Kymi constituency was merged with the South Savo constituency to form the constituency of Southeast Finland .
