Brzice ( German  Brösel ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers east of Dvůr Králové nad Labem and belongs to the Okres Náchod .

Brzice is located in the southeast of the Kingdom Forest on a plateau between the valleys of the Běluňka and the Válovický potok .

Neighboring towns are Proruby and Komárov in the north, Mezilečí in the northeast, Chlístov in the east, Končiny, Nový Dvůr and Újezdec in the southeast, Žďár, Dolní Žlíbek and Výhled in the south, Kopaniny and Horní Žlíbek in the southwest, Harcov and Kladrubyňí in the west, and Zadar and Vyhnánov in the northwest.

history

The village of Brzy was first mentioned in documents in 1422, the owner at that time was the knight Myslibor z Brzic. Later the place became part of the Smiřice domain . In the 16th century, Brzice formed an independent country estate again, which was added to the Hořiněves rule around 1650 .

The first school location was Proruby. The village school there was at first purely Czech-speaking, later teaching took place in a Czech and a German class. From 1829 a house in Brzice was used as a school.

After the abolition of patrimonial Brzice became an independent municipality in 1850, to which the settlements Běluň, Grund, Harcov and Žďár belonged. In 1881 a new school building was built.

Between 1938 and 1945 the border between the German Reich and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ran here . While Brösel belonged to the Protectorate, Komarow and Prorub were in the German district of Trautenau .

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, the places Komárov, Žlíbek and Proruby were incorporated.

The municipality of Brzice consists of the districts Běluň ( Belaun ), Brzice ( Brösel ), Komárov ( Komarow ), Proruby ( Prorub ) and Žďár ( Brand ) as well as the localities Harcov ( Harzhof ) and Žlíbek ( Grund ).
