Jestřebí (German Habichtsau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers northeast of Nové Město nad Metují and belongs to the Okres Náchod .
geography
The place is on the left side of the valley of the Metuje ( Mettau ) on a plateau. To the north lies Hell's Ground ( Peklo ) with the confluence of the ' Olešenka and the Mettau.
Neighboring towns are Peklo in the north, Sendraž in the northeast, Mezilesí in the east, Nouzín and Libchyně in the southeast, Blažkov and Rezek in the south, Nové Město nad Metují in the southwest, Vrchoviny in the west and Přibyslav in the northwest.
history
Jestřebí was probably founded in the 14th century. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1459 in the country table . In 1527 Vojtěch von Pernstein (1490–1534) acquired the place and incorporated it into the rule Nové Město nad Metují . During the Thirty Years War the Swedes pillaged Jestřebí in 1646.
In 1878, Jestřebí was one of the first places in the area where a volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1948 the Czech Association of Allotment Gardeners was founded in the village. During the territorial reform of 1960, it was incorporated into the municipality of Sendraž together with Libchyně. Jestřebí has been an independent municipality again since 1990 and has had a coat of arms since 2003.
