After the abolition of patrimonial Žernovy formed with the districts Ratibořice and Riesenburg from 1850 a municipality in the district of Neustadt an der Mettau . At the end of the 19th century, Vestec came to the Nachod district . In 1921 the Czech place name Žernovy was changed to Žernov. At the beginning of 1961 Ratibořice was spun off and reassigned to Česká Skalice. Since December 9th, 2015 Žernov has been a minority town.
