EVALO

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EVALO is the acronym for the interdisciplinary research project opening up adaptability for living places . This project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research , spent three years (2001-2004) researching adaptable urban structures .

With the participation of institutes and planning offices from different disciplines such as household economics , pedagogy , traffic planning and social research , empirical research was carried out to determine which properties make urban quarters adaptable, i.e. suitable for everyday use. The perspective of children, self-employment and subsistence , supply of food, integration of different social groups , communication , education and work were used.

The results of the investigations, for which areas throughout Germany were used, have been disseminated and discussed in reports, colloquia and articles since mid-2004. The project was about recommendations for urban planning, urban development policy and promotion at all levels. The EVALO project was coordinated by the "Integrated Transport Planning" working group at the University of Kassel (headed by Helmut Holzapfel ).
