Mattias Tedenby (born February 21, 1990 in Vetlanda ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Vitjas in the Continental Hockey League since May 2020 .
Career
Mattias Tedenby already played in his youth for HV71 , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2007/08 season . In his rookie year , the attacker won the Swedish championship for the first time with his team . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the first round as a total of 24th player by the New Jersey Devils . In addition, he was selected in the first junior draft of the Continental Hockey League in the summer of 2009 in the second round in 40th place by Atlant Mytishchi , who thus secured his transfer rights when switching to the KHL.
First Tedenby was in the 2008/09 season in 32 games of the main round, as well as in 18 playoff games for Jönköping on the ice, with which he again reached the finals. There the attacker and his team lost to Färjestad BK . He also scored a goal in two games in the Champions Hockey League , for which HV71 had qualified through the championship title in the previous season.
For the 2010/11 season Tedenby moved to North America and initially played on the farm team of the New Jersey Devils, the Albany Devils , in the American Hockey League (AHL). After good performance, he was appointed to the NHL roster of the New Jersey Devils during the season and completed more games in the NHL than in the AHL both this season and the following season 2011/12. This changed in the following years, with Tedenby leaving North America in August 2014 and returning to HV71 . In 2017 he won his fourth Swedish championship with the HV71.
In May 2019, after his contract with HV71 had expired, Tedenby signed a two-year contract with HC Davos from the National League . For HCD, he scored 18 goals and 19 assists in 48 games in the 2019/20 season before moving to HK Vitjas for one year with an exit clause in the Continental Hockey League .
International
For Sweden Tedenby took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2007 and 2008 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad for the first time at the 2011 World Cup and won the silver medal with his team straight away.
