Igor Konstantinowitsch Warizki ( Russian Игорь Константинович Варицкий ; born April 25, 1971 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and now - trainer and functionary.
Career
Igor Warizki began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with HK Traktor Chelyabinsk , for which he was active from 1988 to 1995 in the Vysschaya League , the highest Soviet league, and in the International Hockey League . He started the 1995/96 season at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the International Hockey League, but left after only three games to play for the Kassel Huskies in the German Ice Hockey League . In the further course of the season he joined their DEL competitor EC in Hanover , where he stayed until the end of the season. From 1996 to 1998 the attacker and his ex-club HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk took part in the game operations of the Russian Super League and won the Russian Cup competition with this in the 1997/98 season .
For the 1998/99 season Warizki joined the HC Vítkovice from the Czech extra league . He then played for two and a half years for Severstal Tscherepowez and one and a half years for HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk in the Russian Super League. In the 2003/04 season he went to their league rivals Salawat Julajew Ufa . This was followed by one year each with his ex-clubs HK Traktor Tscheljabinsk and HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk in the second Russian division, the Wysschaja Liga, and two years with the second-rate Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg before he ended his active career at the age of 37.
In the 2008/09 season Warizki was active as an assistant coach for Vitjas Chekhov from the Continental Hockey League . In the 2010/11 season he was General Manager of HK Tractor Chelyabinsk, also playing in the KHL.
Warizki has been General Manager of HK Vitjas from Podolsk (previously Chekhov ) since 2013 .
International
For Russia , Warizki took part in the 1993 World Cup, where he and his team won the gold medal. He was also in his country's squad at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
