Ville Lajunen (born March 8, 1988 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Vitjas in the Continental Hockey League since May 2019 . His younger brother Jani Lajunen is also a hockey player.

Career

Ville Lajunen began his career as a hockey player in the youth of the Finnish first division club Espoo Blues , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2006/07 season . He remained pointless and goalless in three games. In the following season, the defender and his team were runner-up. In addition to the Espoo Blues, Lajunen also played for the Finnish U20 national team in the second-rate Mestis and for KooKoo Kouvola from 2006 to 2008 . In the 2008/09 season Lajunen was able to earn a regular place in the Espoo team and scored a total of 19 scorer points in 45 games, including eight goals. In November 2011, the Finn moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League .

Between 2012 and 2014 Lajunen was then at Färjestad BK , with whom he was again Swedish runner-up in 2014 and had previously participated in the All-Star Game of Svenska Hockeyligan. For the 2014/15 season he was signed by KHL newcomer Jokerit Helsinki , for whom he played until 2017. In the 2017/18 season Lajunen was under contract with HK Spartak Moscow before he signed Red Star from Kunlun in May 2018 .

International

For Finland , Lajunen took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2008 , where he finished sixth with his team.
