history

The club was founded in 2008 as HK WMF Saint Petersburg ( Russian Хоккейный клуб Военно-Морской Флот Санкт-Петербург ) and was immediately included in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. The abbreviation WMF stands for Wojenno-Morskoi Flot , (German: Russian Naval War Fleet ).

In his debut season he missed qualifying for the playoffs as 10th place in the Western Conference. In the 2009/10 season HK WMF Saint Petersburg was able to qualify as 7th of the West Conference for the sixteenth finals, but was eliminated in this.

For the 2010/11 season , the team was included in the new second division, the Wysschaja Hockey League . This should be the most successful season for the club. In the main round, the club took 4th place in the western conference and advanced to the quarter-finals in the playoffs. In the 2011/12 season the club took 6th place in the Western Conference and was eliminated in the playoff round of 16. In the single-track 2012/13 season , the club did not get past 18th place and thus missed qualifying for the playoffs. In July 2013, the association was relocated to Kondopoga and changed its name accordingly to HK WMF-Karelija ( Russian Хоккейный клуб Военно-Морской Флот Карелия ). In the 2013/14 season , the team finished 25th and penultimate place and could not qualify for the playoffs.

In May 2015, the club moved back to Saint Petersburg, was renamed SKA-Neva and has played at the SKA Sports Palace ever since .
