The 2013/14 season of the Vysschaya Hockey League is the 22nd season of the second highest Russian ice hockey league and the fourth since the league was founded.
Changes compared to the previous year
- The HC Lipetsk was taken as an expansion team in the league.
- The Yunost Minsk of Belarus returns after only one year in the Belarusian Extraliga back and thus no longer takes part in the VHL.
- Lokomotive Yaroslavl dissolves its 2nd crew.
- The HK WMF Saint Petersburg was to Kondopoga relocated and changed its name to HK WMF Karelia .
- Ariada-Akpars Wolschsk changed its name to Ariada Wolschsk .
mode
The league consists of 26 participants (24 Russian and two Kazakhstani), each of which competes in a home and away match against every other participant in the league, whereupon each team plays a total of 50 games in the main round. The 16 best-placed teams then qualified for the playoffs, in which the second division champions are played. Each team receives three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after extra time, one point for a loss after extra time and zero points for a loss after regular time.
