history

The central building has a circular floor plan with a diameter of 94 m and a height of 22 m. The sports complex was designed by a group of architects around GP Morosow and Alexei Morosow and built in 1967. The building was donated by the trade unions of the Soviet Union as a gift to mark the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution . In 1971 the architects received the State Prize of the USSR for their design and implementation.

The large arena has a capacity of 7,012 for ice hockey; which can be increased to 7,700 places in basketball. The smaller ice rink offers space for 1,900 spectators. use

The arena has hosted a variety of sport, concert and congress events since it opened. This included the men's ice hockey world championship in 2000 . Between 1968 and 1999, the Jubileiny sports complex was the home venue of the ice hockey club SKA Saint Petersburg , which moved to the Ice Palace in 1999 and only uses the Jubileiny as an alternative venue.
