Artur Andrejewitsch Gatschinski ( Russian Артур Андреевич Гачинский ; English Artur Andreyevich Gachinski ; born August 13, 1993 in Moscow ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in a single run .
Career
Gatchinsky moved from Moscow to Saint Petersburg at the age of nine to train with Alexei Mishin at the Jubileiny Sports Complex .
At the Junior World Championship in 2010 he won the bronze medal behind the Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu and the Chinese Nan Song .
2010/11 season
In 2011 Gatchinsky was the Russian runner-up behind Konstantin Menshov . In his European championship debut, he finished fifth in Bern , after having even been third in the short program.
In April 2011, the only 17-year-old Russian won the bronze medal in front of a home crowd in Moscow at his first world championship. This was last achieved by Evan Lysacek at the 2005 World Cup . In the short program Gatschinski was the only runner next to Patrick Chan to show a quadruple toe loop-triple toe loop combination, but stumbled on the landing of the triple Rittberger and was in fourth place. In the freestyle, Gatschinski stood a four-fold toe loop and seven triple jumps. He increased his personal best, which he had achieved just three months earlier at the European Championship , by over 25 points.
2011/12 season
After an inconsistent start to the 2011/12 season in the Grand Prix competitions , Gatchinsky was again runner-up in the Russian championships for 2012, this time behind the returning Yevgeny Pljushchenko . At the European Championships in Sheffield , the result was repeated when Gatschinski won his first European Championship medal behind his experienced compatriot with silver. He was the only participant to show three clean quadruple jumps. Things didn't go so well for Gatchinski at the World Cup . After numerous mistakes in the short program and freestyle, the bronze medalist from the previous year only managed to finish 18th.
After the resignation
Gatschinski is now working as a trainer in the team of his own former trainer Alexei Mischin.
