The present museum building was acquired in 1344. The Altenburg school was housed in it around 1600. The exhibition is dedicated to the history of Windhaag and Altenburg as well as the Count of Windhaag and his daughter Eva Magdalena .

The former parish church of Altenburg near Windhaag , built around 1300, is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew and is located on a hill where there was once a castle and fortification. Since the transfer of parish rights in 1782, the church has been used as a branch church of the Roman Catholic parish of Windhaag near Perg. Because of its untouched state of preservation, the church is one of the most important monuments in the Mühlviertel.

The Windhaag castle ruins , also known as the old Windhaag Castle, are located about five hundred meters east of the center of the municipality of Windhaag near Perg . In contrast to the new Windhaag Castle built by Joachim Enzmilner in the immediate vicinity and completely destroyed by his daughter in 1681 , the old castle has been preserved as a ruin, was acquired by the Windhaag municipality in 1990 and has since been made usable for tourist purposes.

The building was erected in 1651 at the same time as the attached Portiunkula Church in Windhaag as a sacristan's house with a chapel, from 1734 it served as a residential wing for the priests and from 1782 together with the excreted chapel as a parsonage for the parish of Windhaag, which was newly established with the parish rights of Altenburg. The chapel has served as a funeral hall since 1983.

The chapel is a simple gable building with a gable roof and inside with a pointed barrel. The original subdivision with the sacred room in the south and the chapter house in the north has been preserved. Inside a Nepomuk figure, probably from the end of the 18th century.

The rectory is two-story with a hipped roof, above the north portal there is a cartouche with the coat of arms and monogram of Count Joachim Enzmillner, the portal is marked with 1734. Wooden ceilings with chip carvings on both floors.

The Dominican convent Windhaag, founded in 1664, built a new monastery under its first prioress Eva Magdalena Enzmilner after the death of her father and the demolition of Windhaag Castle in its place from 1678 to 1689. The Dominican convent in Windhaag was abolished as part of the Josephine reforms in 1782.

The former Dominican convent wind Hague was one of Joachim Enzmilner 1664, first in the old castle Windhaag furnished Dominican - monastery in Windhaag , with his only daughter, Eva Magdalena , from 1668 as the first Prioress . The monastery was closed by Joseph II in 1782 .
