St. Georgen was first mentioned in a document in 1147 in the deed of foundation of Waldhausen Monastery . The Gothic-style church was built in three periods, with the presbytery from the 11th century and the central and left aisles in the 13th or 14th century. The building is vaulted, but not overloaded with ribs and pillars. It is believed that the village was formed at the beginning of the 4th century, namely at the time of the Diocletian persecution of Christians . Under pressure from constant and excruciating torture, Christians are likely to have crossed the Danube, the border of the Roman Empire, and sought protection inland in the primeval forests to the north.
