The first documentary mention in a Waldhausner deed took place in 1331 or 1335, during which time the existing chapel was replaced by a church and parish rights were granted. With the construction of a large church around 1400, the old rectory is said to have been built. The church was thoroughly renovated inside and out from 1977 to 1985.

The former hilltop castle was built and inhabited by the Lords of Perg in the 11th century. The castle has belonged to the Linz Cathedral Chapter since 1782. In 1855 part of the keep collapsed.

The former hill fort was first mentioned in a document in 1297. Only the remains of the wall remain of the complex, which is now in the forest, especially the towering north wall of the keep.
