Eva Magdalena from Windhag
Eva Magdalena von Windhag , also Eva Magdalena Enzmilner (* February 23, 1629 ; † January 3, 1700 in Windhaag near Perg ) was the first prioress of the Dominican convent of Windhaag and the only heiress of Count Joachim Enzmilner .
Live and act
Eva Magdalena was baptized by Nikolaus Aliprandus de Thomasis, dean at the parish church in Linz , her godparents were Abbot Anton Spindler from Garsten Abbey , Mrs. von Gera and Mr. Vizedom Grundemann von Falkenberg and his wife. Eva Magdalena was the only one of five children born alive and ten dead born to Joachim Enzmilner and his first wife Maria Magdalena Kirchstetter (* May 19, 1608, † March 9, 1659 or May 30, 1659) to reach adulthood. In 1645 she came to the Jungfrauenkloster Judenburg to protect herself from the Swedes , then withdrew from her parents' wishes, took the three vows of a nun in 1647 and fled to the Dominican convent in Tulln in 1648 .
Only at Christmas 1664 did she return to Windhaag with three nuns and two priests, where her father had a small monastery set up in his old castle . In 1668 Eva Magdalena became the first prioress of the Dominican convent in Windhaag.
She survived her father and inherited the Windhag rule. She had the Windhaag Castle built by her father demolished and built a new monastery building in what is now the center of Windhaag near Perg. The Dominican convent of Windhaag was closed in the course of the Josephine reforms in 1782 for economic reasons and handed over to the Linz cathedral chapter .
