history

Martin Grundemann von Falkenberg was councilor of the Bamberg diocese and died in Forchheim towards the end of the 16th century. His three sons Konstantin, Elisäus (I) and Balthasar came to Austria because of their Catholic religion and were accepted into the Austrian nobility on December 25, 1613 (with an improvement in the coat of arms). Elisäus fought as an imperial captain in the Turkish War in 1598 (siege and capture of the Raab fortress, see ) and also did military service for the bishop of Bamberg . His two sons Albert and Elisäus (II.) Were both Benedictines in Göttweig .

Konstantin (1582–1658) was court judge in Kremsmünster from 1610 to 1616 , in 1622 he became imperial councilor, in 1625 chief toll collector in Linz and Reformation Commissioner (= member of the Reformation Commission, which was supposed to promote the Counter Reformation). Since 1628 Konstantin was Vice-Cathedral in the Land ob der Enns (head of the financial administration) for 21 years , in the same year district administrator and in 1629 state attorney. In 1626 he had acquired Burg and Gut Streitwiesen in Weitental / Lower Austria and in 1630 received a diploma with an increased coat of arms and since then has called himself Falkenberg "auf Streitwiesen". In 1633 he became Imperial Chamber Councilor and Archduke Council of Archduke Leopold Wilhelm , Bishop of Passau and Strasbourg. In 1628 Konstantin was accepted into the young Upper Austrian knighthood and in 1636 into the old Upper Austrian knighthood, from 1656 until his death in 1658 he was ordinator of the landscape.

Konstantin was first married to Margaretha Holzschuch and from 1620 to Cäcilia Alt von Altenau (1601–1667), a daughter of Salzburg Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau and Salome Alt . The marriage had two daughters and six sons, i.e. grandchildren of Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich, of whom only four grew up: Johann Erasmus († 1664) was in imperial service, Franz Fortunat (1626–1700) was a Benedictine in Kremsmünster, Georg Konstantin (1623–1623) 1691) and Adam Anton (1624–1711). Georg Konstantin had been Vice Cathedral ob der Enns and Imperial Court Chamber Councilor since 1648 and turned the rule of Waldenfels and Egereck into a family entourage. The Waldenfels Castle is still owned by the family today, the Egeregg Castle was demolished in 1737 and used as building material for the Prunerstift .

Ernst Konstantin (1653–1702) was a decree of the Lower Austrian knighthood and Bambergsch council and inherited from his uncle Georg Konstantin Waldenfels-Egereck. In 1688 he was admitted to the Hungarian higher ranks and in 1696 was elevated to the status of imperial baron. His son Johann Adam (1694–1719) was accepted into the count's estate in 1716 and into the Lower Austrian gentry in 1717.
