The HK Nomad ( Russian Хоккейный клуб «Номад» ) is an ice hockey team from the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan , which was founded in 2007 as the second team by Barys Astana and started playing in the Kazakh championship in 2008 . Nomad has been a member of the supranational Wysschaja Hockey League since 2019 .
history
The second team of Barys Astana was founded in 2007 and initially played in the Pervaya League , the then third division of Russia. For 2008/09 the team was included in the Kazakh championship and was runner-up in the 2010/11 season. From 2013, the second team appeared under the name Nomad Astana .
In 2017 Nomad beat HK Arystan Temirtau 4: 3 in the playoff final and won the first title in the club's history. Nomad thus qualified for the IIHF Continental Cup 2017/18 . In its final tournament, Nomad took second place behind HK Junost Minsk .
In May 2019 Nomad was accepted into the Vysschaya Hockey League .
