Guro Angell Gimse (born July 20, 1971 ) is a Norwegian politician from Melhus who belongs to the conservative Høyre party. From February 2019 to January 2020 she was State Secretary in the Solberg government in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Gimse is a trained police officer and also works as a farmer in Melhus.

Political career

In 2011 Gimse moved into the local parliament of Melhus and the Fylkesting of Sør-Trøndelag . The latter became part of Trøndelag's Fylkesting in 2018 , where she was a member until 2019. In 2019, she also resigned from the Melhus municipal parliament. From 2013 to 2017 Gimse held the post of second deputy chairman of the Høyre in Sør-Trøndelag, at the same time she was also chairman of the party's women's group in that province. Since 2017 she has been chairwoman of the Høyre women's forum in Trøndelag.

In the general election in Norway in 2017 , Gimse did not manage to move directly into the Norwegian parliament in Storting . As the first vara representative for the constituency Sør-Trøndelag, however, she moved up as a representative in parliament. From October 1, 2017 to January 22, 2019, she represented Minister Linda Hofstad Helleland . On February 1, 2019, Gimse was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. She held this office until January 24, 2020. She then returned to Parliament as a representative of Helleland, who became Minister again.
