David Nemirovsky ( Russian Дэвид Семёнович Немировски / David Semjonowitsch Nemirovsky; born August 1, 1976 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Russian - Canadian ice hockey player who was primarily active in North America , Russia and Scandinavia during his career . Between 2015 and 2018 he was the sports director at Admiral Vladivostok , and since 2018 he has been the head coach of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
Career
David Nemirovsky began his career in the Metropolitan Toronto Junior Hockey League , a regional junior league in Toronto, with the Pickering Panthers , Weston Dukes and North York Rangers . In 1993 he moved to the Ontario Hockey League for the Ottawa 67’s . In the 1994 NHL Entry Draft , the Florida Panthers selected him in the fourth round in 84th place. His last season in the OHL he spent with Sarnia Sting , but also made his debut for the Panthers in the National Hockey League . In the following two game years he commuted between the Panthers and their farm teams in the American Hockey League , but could not fight for a regular place in the NHL.
In a total of 94 NHL games for the Florida Panthers, Nemirovsky scored 17 goals and 22 assists. During the 1998/99 season , on February 17, 1999, the Panthers exchanged him for Jeff Ware of the Toronto Maple Leafs . These use him exclusively in the AHL with the St. John's Maple Leafs .
He spent most of the 2000/01 season at HV 71 Jönköping from the Swedish Elitserien , before joining Ilves Tampere in 2001 via Lokomotive Yaroslavl . Again he changed clubs during one season, this time to Jokerit Helsinki . With Jokerit he won the IIHF Continental Cup 2002/03 .
After this success Nemirovsky first signed a contract with Chimik Voskressensk in the summer of 2003 , but left this club again during the current season and joined Ak Bars Kazan . Further stations in the Super League were SKA Saint Petersburg , HK CSKA Moscow and again for SKA Saint Petersburg. From summer 2009 he was under contract with Barys Astana . Since he has a Russian passport in addition to his Canadian citizenship, he does not fall under the quota of foreigners in the KHL. In summer 2010 he moved to HK Dinamo Minsk with five teammates . In December 2010 he was signed by HK CSKA Moscow, which he left after only two games. He then signed a contract with ERV Schweinfurt from the Bayern League in January 2011 and played for them until the end of the season. He did not play ice hockey for the next two years before being signed again by CSKA Moscow in October 2013. In 16 missions for CSKA, however, he remained goalless and pointless.
