Mikhail Sergejewitsch Schukow ( Russian Михаил Сергеевич Жуков ; born January 3, 1985 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian - Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Continental Hockey League since May 2017 . He is the son of Sergei Zhukov and nephew of Andrei Zhukov , both of whom were also professional ice hockey players.
Career
Mikhail Zhukov began his career as a hockey player in Sweden , where his father was a professional ice hockey player until 1997. In 2000 he took part in the TV swaddling competition with the Jämtland / Härjedalen regional team. He then played in the youth of the Swedish club Mora IK , for which he was active in the 2000/01 season. He then played two seasons for IFK Arboga IK in HockeyAllsvenskan before he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 72 players by the Edmonton Oilers . However, they never signed him.
After another season in HockeyAllsvenskan at VIK Västerås HK , the attacker moved to Ak Bars Kazan in his Russian homeland in summer 2004 . With the leopards he was Russian champion in 2006 and 2009 . He also won the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2007 and the IIHF Continental Cup in 2008 . In the 2004/05 season Zhukov also completed some games for HK Spartak Moscow in the Super League .
Before the 2009/10 season, Zhukov left Ak Bars and was signed by HK Lada Tolyatti , for whom he played six games and moved to Severstal Tscherepovets in mid-October 2009 . He played for Severstal until the end of September 2010 before he came to HK Spartak Moscow via a short stint at SKA Saint Petersburg , for which his father had played for many years. In November 2011 he moved to Vitjas Chekhov , but left the club after a few games and played from January 2012 for HK Awangard Omsk . After the end of the season he returned to Spartak Moscow.
In January 2013, the management of HK Spartak initially sent him to the partner team Buran Voronezh before he was handed over to HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk at the end of the month .
He has been under contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk since May 2014 .
