Jordan Szwarz (born May 14, 1991 in Burlington , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since July 2020 and plays there in the position of right winger .
Career
Szwarz played during his junior years between 2007 and 2011 for the Saginaw Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League . In the four years, the striker was able to continuously increase his points and was selected in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in 97th position by the Phoenix Coyotes from the National Hockey League . During his junior career, the attacker made his professional debut with the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League during the 2009/10 season .
At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, Szwarz was initially in a three-year contractual relationship with the Phoenix Coyotes, who used him exclusively in their farm team , the Portland Pirates , in the American Hockey League until the end of the 2012/13 season . It was not until the 2013/14 season that the Canadian made his NHL debut and his missions were split equally between the Pirates and Coyotes. In the following seasons he was again mostly active for the farm teams in Portland and later the Springfield Falcons in the AHL. After his contract, which was extended by two years in the summer of 2014 , was no longer renewed after the end of the 2015/16 season , Szwarz was looking for a new employer as a free agent . He found this in mid-October 2016 in the Providence Bruins from the AHL. After a season there, he also received a new one-year contract with Providence's NHL partner, the Boston Bruins, in July 2017 . Also as a free agent, he moved to the Ottawa Senators in July 2019 , where, with the exception of three games, he ran into their farm team, the Belleville Senators .
In July 2020, Szwarz joined the Russian club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod from the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
