Eric Radford (born January 27, 1985 in Balmertown , Ontario ) is a Canadian figure skater who starts in pair skating . He is world champion in 2015 and 2016 and four continents champion in 2013 and 2015 (together with Meagan Duhamel ).

Career

Radford has been running alongside Meagan Duhamel since 2010 .

In 2011 the figure skating couple won the silver medal at the four continents championships. In 2012 Duhamel / Radford became Canadian champions for the first time . In 2013 they defended this title and won their first major international title with gold at the Four Continents Championships in Osaka . At the following world championship in London , Canada , the couple won their first medal at world championships with bronze . The following year they repeated this in Saitama .

Duhamel / Radford became world champions at the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai . They also defended this title at the 2016 World Cup in Boston .

Personal

In early December 2014, Radford came out as gay . Since February 11, 2018, he has been the first openly gay male gold medalist in the history of the Winter Olympics.
