Wallace William Diestelmeyer (born July 14, 1926 in Kitchener , Ontario , † December 23, 1999 in Oakville , Ontario) was a Canadian figure skater who started in individual skating and pair skating .

Career

In the individual run, Diestelmeyer was Canadian champion in 1948. At the 1948 World Championships in Davos , he finished ninth and at the 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz, twelfth place.

He was more successful in pair skating with Suzanne Morrow . With her he became Canadian champions in 1947 and 1948. At the World Championships as well as the Olympic Games in 1948 they won the bronze medal. They were the first couple to show the death spiral with just one hand in the form we know today.

After the end of his active sports career, Diestelmeyer worked as a teacher and trainer.
