William McLachlan is a retired Canadian figure skater who started in ice dancing .

Career

Initially, his ice dance partner was Geraldine Fenton . With her he took part in world championships from 1957 to 1959 and always won a medal. In 1957 and 1958 they were runner-up behind the British June Markham and Courtney Jones and in 1959 they won the bronze medal. From 1960 Virginia Thompson became his ice dance partner. With her, too, he won a medal at all world championships in which he participated. In 1960 McLachlan and Thompson were vice world champions behind Doreen Denny and Courtney Jones and in 1962 they won the bronze medal.
