Emily Nishikawa (born July 26, 1989 in Whitehorse ) is a Canadian cross-country skier .

Career

Nishikawa has mainly participated in the Nor Am Cup since 2005. She has won 34 victories so far and won the overall standings in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. In the 2016/17 season she was third and second in the overall standings in 2010/11 and 2011/12 (as of the end of the 2019/20 season). She ran her first World Cup race in January 2008 in Canmore , which she finished with 53rd place in the 10 km freestyle. At the Canadian cross-country skiing championships in 2012, she won gold over 10 km freestyle and bronze over 5 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , she finished 57th in the 10 km freestyle and sprint. Her best placings at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were 42nd place in the 15 km skiathlon and 14th place with the relay. At the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships 2014 in Corner Brook , she won gold over 5 km classic and silver in the 30 km mass start race. She got her first World Cup points in December 2014 in Davos with the 29th place over 10 km classic.In February 2015 she won the 32nd place in the 30 km mass start race and the 30th place over 10 km freestyle at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . She achieved her best placement so far in March 2015 in Lahti with 23rd place over 10 km classic. In the 2015/16 season she came in 60th place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka and 37th in the Ski Tour Canada . The following season she finished 46th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer and 38th in the World Cup final in Québec . Her best placings, at the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, were 37th place over 10 km classic and tenth place with the relay. At the end of March 2017, she became Canadian champion in the 10 km classic, sprint and 30 km mass start race in Canmore . In the 2017/18 season she took 69th place in the Ruka Triple and 48th place in the World Cup final in Falun. Her best placings at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 30th place in the 30 km mass start race and 13th place with the relay and together with Dahria Beatty in the team sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Nishikawa finished 25th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and 31st place in the World Cup finals in Québec . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she ran to 39th place in the 30 km mass start race, 36th place over 10 km classic and 12th place with the relay and together with Dahria Beatty in the team sprint. In March 2019 she became Canadian champion over 10 km classic and second in the pursuit in Gatineau .
