Justin Peters (born August 30, 1986 in Blyth , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Bílí Tygři Liberec from the Czech Extraliga since May 2019 .

Career

Justin Peters began his career as a hockey player in Canada's top junior league Ontario Hockey League , where he was active from 2002 to 2006 for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and the Plymouth Whalers . During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the second round as a total of 38th player by the Carolina Hurricanes .

In the 2006/07 season , the goalkeeper made his debut in the American Hockey League for their farm team , the Albany River Rats , for which he was between the posts until 2010. In addition, the Canadian completed a total of 32 games for the Florida Everblades from the ECHL from 2006 to 2008 . In the 2010/11 season Peters stood as a replacement for Cam Ward in 12 NHL games for the Hurricanes between the posts, before he was back in the farm team, now the Charlotte Checkers , for the 2011/12 season .

In July 2014, Peters moved to Washington Capitals , where he signed a two-year contract. This was not subsequently extended, so he joined the Arizona Coyotes as a free agent in July 2016 . With the Coyotes, Peters came to three NHL missions and spent most of the season with the Tucson Roadrunners . In January 2017, he and Justin Haché were handed over to the Dallas Stars , who in return sent Brendan Ranford and Branden Troock to Arizona.

After a short stay at Dinamo Riga in the KHL , he switched to the Kölner Haien in October 2017 . In the season 2018/19 Peters played for the Piráti Chomutov and replaced after their relegation in May 2019 the White Tigers Liberec .

International

Peters was part of the Canadian national team at the 2014 World Cup and the 2018 Winter Olympics . He remained without commitment and won an Olympic bronze medal.
