biography

Laurence St-Germain comes from Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges near the famous Mont Sainte-Anne ski area in the province of Québec . She is studying computer science at the University of Vermont .

At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS races in giant slalom and slalom at home and soon achieved top 10 places. A year later, she gained her first experience in the Nor-Am Cup , in which she initially started increasingly in the Super-G . In February 2013 she took part in the Junior World Championships at Mont Sainte-Anne, where she did not get beyond a 25th place in slalom. In the following years she was able to establish herself in the Nor-Am Cup and achieved fourth place in the slalom classification in the 2014/15 season . On March 20, 2016, she celebrated her first victory in Vail and, after constant performance, took second place in the slalom classification twice in a row. At Canadian championships she has so far achieved a title in her favorite discipline, slalom (2019).

On November 28th, 2015, she made her World Cup debut in the Aspen slalom and immediately finished 27th. However, due to the lack of time, she did not achieve any World Cup points. After ten more slalom starts, she only managed to qualify for the second round two years later in Levi , where she won her first points with 17th place. Two weeks later she was even able to surpass this result with 14th place in Killington . After a few less satisfactory races, she was able to build on the good results of the first half of the season at her first Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang with rank 15. With the Canadian team she finished tied for ninth place. In December 2018, she finished in the top ten of a World Cup race for the first time in the slalom on Semmering . At the World Championships in Åre , she finished sixth in her favorite discipline, as well as three days later at the City Event in Stockholm .
