Jordan Belchos (born June 22, 1989 in Toronto ) is a Canadian speed skater .

Career

Belchos made his debut in the Speed ​​Skating World Cup at the beginning of the 2008/09 season in Berlin , where he finished 11th over 5000 m in the B World Cup. At the North America Championships in 2010 he won the silver medal and the following year the gold medal over 5000 m. He had his first solo appearance in the A World Cup in November 2011 in Astana and finished 14th in the mass start. At the individual distance world championships in 2012 in Heerenveen , he came in 13th place over 5000 m and over 10,000 m. In the 2012/13 season he came in the top ten four times in the mass start and thus reached third place in the mass start World Cup. At the individual distance world championships in Sochi in 2013 he achieved 17th place over 5000 m, 11th place over 10,000 m and seventh place in the team pursuit. The following year he achieved 22nd place at the all- around world championship in Heerenveen. At the individual distance world championships in 2015 in Heerenveen, he won the silver medal in the team pursuit and finished 11th over 10,000 m. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he won his first World Cup victory in the team sprint in Calgary . In the further course of the season he came under the top ten five times in the A World Cup and thus reached 12th place in the overall World Cup over 5000 / 10,000 m and seventh place in the mass start World Cup at the end of the season. At the individual distance world championships in Kolomna in 2016 , he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit. He also achieved 11th place over 5000 m, tenth place in the mass start and fifth place over 10,000 m. In the 2016/17 season, he finished third in the mass start in Harbin and second in the team pursuit in Astana. His best placings at the 2017 World Individual Distance Championships in Gangwon were sixth place over 10,000 m and fourth place in the team pursuit. The following year he was seventh in the team pursuit and fifth in the 10,000 m at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .

In the 2018/19 season, Belchos achieved three top ten placements over 5000 m, ninth place in the overall World Cup over 5000 / 10,000 m. At the individual distance world championships in Inzell 2019 , he finished ninth in the 5000 m and fifth in the team pursuit. At the beginning of March 2019 he finished 17th at the all- around world championship in Calgary .

Belchos won the Canadian championships three times over 5000 m (2012, 2016, 2017) and six times over 10000 m (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019).
