At the 2018 Winter Olympics , South Korea and North Korea took part in a joint women's ice hockey team. The team represented its own delegation, which started under the name of Korea and the flag of the United Korea . This was the first time that athletes from North and South Korea formed a team at the Olympic Games .
In addition to the 23-player squad from South Korea, twelve other players from North Korea were added. The delegation thus consisted of 35 players, of which only 22 were allowed to play per game, but at least three players from North Korea. The coach of the team was the American Sarah Murray , the actual national coach of the South Korean team . South Korea was automatically qualified to host.
The team closed the ice hockey tournament after five partly significant defeats and a goal difference of 2:28 in eighth and last place.
