South Korea took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in the Japanese Nagano with a delegation of 37 athletes in eight disciplines in part, of which 26 men and 11 women. With three gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals, South Korea was the ninth most successful nation in the Games.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the ski racer Hur Seung-wook .
