Park Byung-joo (born April 23, 1979 in Gunsan ) is a South Korean biathlete and cross-country skier .

Park Byung-joo from the KAFAC association and is trained by Shin Yong-sean. He has been taking part in cross-country skiing competitions since 1996 and has been running biathlon since 1999. He lives in Gangwon-do . From 1996 to 2006 he mainly participated in the Continental Cup . At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he reached 79th place over 10 km classic and 67th place in the 25 km pursuit race. A year later he finished in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein 75th place over 10 km classic and 66th place in the 25 km pursuit race. In November 2001 he ran his first of three cross-country world cup races in Kuopio , which he finished classically in 94th place over 15 km. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he achieved 62nd place over 15 km classic and 55th place in the 30 km mass start race. His best placings at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin was the 63rd in the sprint and 18th place in the team sprint.

Park made his international debut in biathlon in 2006 at a Biathlon European Cup race in Obertilliach and was 98th in the sprint. Previously, he was for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin provided where, however, Park Yun-bae was preferred. A year later , the South Korean ran his first World Cup race in Kontiolahti and was 109th of the individual at the start of the season. From now on, Park kept switching between the World Cup and the European or IBU Cup. His first participation in world championships was in Östersund in 2008 . In the sprint he came in 98th place, in the individual he achieved his best ever World Cup result as 89th. With the mixed relay team at the side of Jo In-hee , Lee In-bok and Mun Ji-hee , Park finished 19th. With the same line-up, the relay team came 14th in a World Cup race in Pyeongchang, Switzerland, a little later . In the biathlon At the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang, he achieved 102nd place in the sprint, 101st place in the individual and 23rd place in the relay. After the 2008/09 season, Park switched back to cross-country skiing. There he played mainly in the Far East Cup until 2012 , which he finished in third place in the overall standings in 2010 . In January 2010 he became the South Korean champion over 10 km classic. At the Winter Asian Games 2011 he won bronze with the relay and bronze with Jung Eui-Myung in the team sprint.
