Cross-country skiing Far East Cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cross-country skiing Far East Cup ( East Asia Cup ) is an international cross-country skiing race series organized by the FIS , which is held during the winter months of the northern hemisphere.

The Far East Cup has existed in cross-country skiing since winter 2004/05. Here the races are a little more evenly distributed than in alpine skiing to the nations of China and Japan, and competitions are also held in South Korea. With the exception of the victories by Europeans who take part in the Far East Cup during World Cup breaks, the Japanese have triumphed in more than 65% of the races there too. In the women’s category, however, the South Koreans and Chinese have also won some.

In contrast to the World Cup, all races take place in East Asia . Otherwise, the rules are the same, including the allocation of points based on the FIS points system . However, only winners in the overall ranking and in the discipline scores are determined; these have only been recorded by the FIS since 2006/07 .
