Azerbaijan took in 1998 in Nagano for the first time at the Olympic Winter Games in part. Overall, a delegation of four athletes was sent who competed in figure skating in two disciplines.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was Yulia Vorobyova , who took part in figure skating for the country.
